Nomad "sforna" sei nuovi trucks

Ai profani i camion Overland sembreranno tutti più o meno uguali, ma non è così...

Questo ad esempio è un vecchio camion di Nomad, compagnia inglese con sede nel Somerset e base logistica a Cape Town: è stata fondata nel 1998 e possiede una flotta di 40 camion e 120 dipendenti. Lavora solo in Africa (Sudafrica, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania e Kenya), con una trentina di partenze ogni mese. Il viaggio più lungo – “Best of Africa” - è di 56 giorni. Età media dei passeggeri: 30 anni.

Come spiega Nomad sul suo sito, the new trucks will be fitted with (as per our current trucks):

• Sabs approved seatbelts
• Charging facilities for cameras, cellphones and notebooks.
• PA systems to enable better communication from the guides.
• 218 hp engines that have a governed top speed of 100km/h.
• Ipod jacks for music and our trucks are issued with pre loaded music on USB devices.
• Long range fuel tanks that minimise delays due to fueling requirements.
• All of our trucks are SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) approved designs – a fact almost no companies can claim.
• Individual lockers (there are a handful of original design trucks which don't have individual lockers)
• Freezer, awning, cookers, bullbar, windscreen guards, sports equipment, reference books, novels and magazines as well as music and two spare tyres.
• Tents, chairs and mattresses (manufactured by Nomad to ensure quality and durability).
• Trestle tables for a more pleasant dining experience.
• Clients on camping tours receive a quality sleeping mat of approx. 10cm thickness.
